BRIGHTON — The Beer Burglars broke open a close game with an eight-run fifth inning to throttle Big Ten, 13-5, at Daly Field, in their quarterfinal match-up of the BWCS double-elimination playoffs.
The Burglars (12-1) will face the winner of the Dirt Devils/Whammies game, the result of which had not yet been recorded as of press time. Though the 8th-seeded Whammies finished below the 4th-seeded Dirt Devils, the Burglars were unanimous in their desire to Avoid The Whammy.
The first four innings were strangely quiet and tense. The Burglars cobbled together five runs, three of which came on bases-loaded walks. Meanwhile, Big Ten scored four unearned runs in the fourth inning to briefly tie the game.
But in the fifth, fucking everyone on the Burglars finally relaxed and started ripping the ball, essentially ending the affair right then and there.
Meanwhile, the Brewsers won their second game in franchise history, dismantling The Fours 11-4 in the North End — and there was much rejoicing (while The Fours, having hit rock bottom, took an extra hour of BP afterwards).
